Symptoms
Leaves are yellowish, become pale. Normally appearing first in old leaves. Heavy defoliation. Growth of leaves and shoots is reduced, leading to small trees with poor fruit set and yield.

Reasons
Nitrogen deficiency N deficiency is rare in olive trees grown in open field despite it is an element needed in big amounts. Recycling capability of the tree for this element on top of traditional inputs for nitrogen make this deficiency difficult to appear. Symptoms in tree may be similar to the ones originated by non-nutritional causes, like flooding or root damages.
