Symptoms
Symptom develops first in young leaves, starting with general chlorosis of the leaf but the veins and may end in necrosis in case of severe deficiency. In olives, sometimes green color of leaf´s veins is very soft. Young leaves usually show a reduced size and more extensive yellowish aspect. Fruits are pale and small.
Reasons
Iron deficiency
Iron deficiency is also known as induced iron chlorosis and is usually caused by calcareous soils and root´s anoxia due to flooding, this one not very often in olive orchards. Excessive phosphate applications may also induce iron deficiencies.
